WHAT DETAILS TO BRING ON YOUR WEDDING DAY - A COMPLETE LIST!

The best way to collect all of these items is to put them in a container , that way they are prepared and so that they stay clean & organized. Flat lay images have not always been popular but over the last few years the desire for these types of photos has grown and like many other creatives, details are one of my favorite ways to elevate your final wedding gallery. These items are often times unique to you and your partner & help narrate your love story as well as tie in your wedding colors, personality choices, pets & culture.

If you want your details captured with beautiful styling, I would recommend setting aside at least 30 minutes to 1 hour of your wedding timeline. It takes time to style your items in a place that photographs well and flows together!

Here are 28 items to include in your wedding flatlay detail box :

  1. You & your partners rings ( I recommend having your rings cleaned ahead of your wedding day & upon your photographers arrival having all 3 rings collected and ready to be photographed )

  2. Your full invitation suite ( This includes your invite, rsvp card, save the date card & envelopes! Typically it is best to include 2 full copies as this can help to get more variations of this shot )

  3. Stamps that match your wedding theme ( having stamps that are curated specifically for your envelope & theme is so FUN )

  4. Wax seals ( this helps elevate the full image, all of those tiny details make flatlays look more polished )

  5. Ribbon that matches the color palette of your wedding (silk or chiffon ribbon is recommended)

  6. Wedding day jewelry – necklace, earrings, bracelet, rings, broaches ( having these unboxed and unwrapped ahead of time helps save your photographer time & allows them more time to focus on photographing these items )

  7. Wedding day Perfume ( remembering your signature scent - I love this!! * quick tip, make sure your perfume bottom does not having any fingerprints or smudges on it )

  8. Your flower bouquet , boutonniere + loose florals ( ask your florist ahead of time for loose florals that can be cut and manipulated specifically for these detail images , a small mix / variety of your floral palette works best! )

  9. Vow books ( make sure to communicate with your photographer if you only want them photographed on the outside or if you would like a sneak into your vows captured )

  10. Handwritten letters to each other (old or new)

  11. Wedding day gifts

  12. Cake toppers ( unwrapped of all plastic but carefully wrapped for protection )

  13. Pet- items to include your furry friends (collars, drink tags, drink menu, etc.)

  14. Custom ring box or jewelry dish

  15. Custom napkins, cups, plates

  16. Polaroids of the two of you or old pictures

  17. Custom makeup items

  18. Your wedding day shoes ( if you have worn them ahead of time, wiping the bottoms and insides will help them to look fresh in photos )

  19. Your dress ( freshly steamed and unbagged + your preferred hanger that you will want photographed )

  20. Your veil ( to prep your veil, cut all tags and plastic off ahead of time )

  21. Any sentimental heirlooms that you want to include from your relationship or family members

  22. Cologne ( remembering your signature scent - I love this!! * quick tip, make sure your cologne bottom does not having any fingerprints or smudges on it )

  23. Watch ( gently wipe the watch face to clear off any smudged or fingerprints )

  24. Belt and/or suspenders

  25. Suit ( hung on your preferred hanger that you will want photographed )

  26. Tie ( unrolled and pressed )

  27. Handkerchief

  28. Cufflinks ( unwrapped but organized in a small box )

Things that your photographer may have handy for these detail photos - ask ahead of time if they have a styling kit!

I typically bring a styling kit to all weddings with the following items that I can use to elevate your flatlay details!

  • Ring dishes & boxes in different colors, finishes and styles to hold your rings

  • Colored ribbons in different textures

  • Styling Blocks to create depth in your invitation suite

  • Floral rings to hold your florals so they stand straight up when being styled

  • A plain wooden hanger

  • Vintage stamps & paper materials

  • Colored envelopes to elevate your invitation suite if you are missing one
